JOLIET SLAMMERS MAKE FIRST ROSTER ADDITION WITH LOCAL PLAYER

Outfielder Josh Flores is the first player to be signed by the Slammers

(JOLIET, IL) – The Joliet Slammers acquired New Lenox native, Josh Flores, today from the Sioux City Explorers. The outfielder is the first addition to the Slammers inaugural roster.

Flores, 25, played for Joliet (JackHammers)for the second half of the 2010 season, where he went 23 for 25 in stolen bases with an OBP of .435. Floresʼ speed, says field manager Bart Zeller, is what sets him apart in a competitive league.

"Josh brings an exciting dimension to this ball club," Zeller said on Tuesday. "He can run, heʼs got power, and he can get the ball in the outfield, which is not found a lot in baseball."

A 4th round draft pick in 2005 for the Houston Astros, the Central High School graduate reached Double A level with Corpus Christi at the age of 21. In 2007, he hit .279 with 42 runs batted in and 39 stolen bases.

"Iʼm very excited to be working with this new team and see where this season is headed," say Flores. "Iʼm going to go out there every day, have fun and win Joliet a championship."
